Atlantic Invest 95L now Tropical Storm CHANTEL

Atlantic Invest 95L has upgraded to Tropical Storm CHANTAL. The storm is steadily moving in a Northwesterly direction. Computer models of the storm put its path directly over St Lucia, heading towards the Dominican Republic as a tropical storm. As it passes  directly over Haiti, it is expected to gradually turn to the north, pass over Cuba and then head directly over the Bahama Islands. By this time, the storm will have advanced to a tropical depression with wind speeds at 40 MPH and gusts at 50 MPH. Coastal cities in Florida that may be affected are Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, and Jacksonville. The storm is expected to move into Georgia, or at least affect coastal towns of Savannah and Charleston on the way as it heads more to the north.  The storm is still a long way off of the east coast of the U.S., and is presently 700 miles Southeast of Puerto Rico, so conditions such as speed and intensity along with its direction may change. Computer models of the storm will be updated and that information will be posted here.
