Tropical Storm SOULIK - Update 2

The latest prediction for Tropical Storm SOULIK is that it is on the predicted course that will have it enter China, but the strength of the storm has been downgraded to a Category 1 typhoon by the time it reaches shore. However, typhoon force winds will affect the shoreline from Houcaiwan from the south to Yancheng to the north. This includes Shanghai in the north of Hangzhou Bay. Flooding is expected along the Qiantang River going into Hangzhou. It is possible that more coastal flooding can occur on the Yangtze River to the north. Tropical force winds should be felt as far inland as Nanjing and Chuzhou, down through Nanchang, to Zhangzhou and Houcaiwan , to include the Maluan and Weitou Bays. At present, these are only predictions, but again as long as the storm reaches the expected intensity and stays on its present course, the land masses mentioned above, especially along the coastline should be affected along mainland China. As it approaches the mainland, it should also affect the majority of Taiwan and also Naha Island of the Okinawa, Japan island chain.
